Free rapid charging in Leeds for first 1,000 kWh
To celebrate the launch of Leeds City Centre’s first Rapid Charger, CitiCharge, a subscription-free electric vehicle (EV) charging network, owned and managed by leading parking operator CitiPark, is offering free rapid charging for the first 1,000 kWh used at CitiPark’s Merrion Centre car park from 27th May.
Classified as a 480-volt electric vehicle charging station, rapid chargers are the fastest way to charge an EV, with an electric output of 50 kWh as opposed to the average 7 kWh and is capable of providing 80% charge to EVs in just 20-40 minutes.
The Rapid Charger allows two vehicles to charge simultaneously, using either the 50 kWh DC port (CCS or CHAdeMO) or the 43 kWh AC port (Type 2).
Ben Ziff, Managing Director of CitiPark and CitiCharge said:
“CitiCharge is proud to be the first to install this important piece of pioneering technology in Leeds City Centre. We hope that this will be the first of many more to come, contributing towards making Leeds a standout, technologically advanced city.
The introduction of the Rapid Charger is a part of CitiPark’s wider commitment to going green; investing in sustainable technologies which conserve energy and lower pollution. Following this first installation, the plan is to roll out more Rapid Chargers on the CitiCharge network and further improve the UK’s charging infrastructure.”
