The half term holiday can be a difficult time for parents in Leeds and all over the country. Earlier this week our Manchester team put together a shortlist of events going on in and around Manchester during the half term period, this time it's the turn of our Leeds team.
The events calendar for Leeds February half term is brimming with free events for children of all ages. From city centre museum activities to countryside fun just outside Leeds we've rounded up some of the best free half term events.
The Tetley
The Tetley, Leeds is one of the city's newest cultural assets. On Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th February, The Tetley will welcome visitors to join the “March of the Robots' to explore the world of nonsense machines and become robot inventors.
Leeds City Museum
Sitting just off Millennium Square, Leeds City Museum offers an exciting and fun day out for children of all ages. From the Egyptian collections to the history of Leeds, the museum's permanent collections which includes the impressive “Life On Earth' collection on the museum's ground floor, the museum offers a true mixture of antiquity and contemporary collections for all to enjoy.
Kirkstall Abbey
If the weather holds then Kirkstall Abbey is a beautiful spot just out of Leeds towards Leeds-Bradford Airport. While the Abbey itself is closed until April, the grounds are a great spot for the kids of let off some steam and have a kick about.
Howard Assembly Room
Opera North present a drama workshop for 4-7 year olds as part of their half term activity schedule at the Howard Assembly Room. From 10:00 on February 15th the drama workshop based around Shakespeare's Macbeth is ideal for young people interested in music, drama and performance.
Leeds Art Gallery
Leeds Art Gallery's “Polychromies: Surface, Light and Colour' has been running since November 2012 and will be open every day over the half term period. The exhibition is a fantastic visual display for youngsters and the galleries are free for all to enjoy.
Digital Zoo: Life From The World Wild Web (Trinity Leeds)
Breaking the barriers between art and the web, “Digital Zoo: Life From The World Wild Web' takes highly acclaimed digital art out of the gallery and into everyday places making it accessible to all. The exhibition runs from 14th – 23rd February in Trinity Leeds, Albion Street.
