Sky Ride Returns to Leeds!
It's Time to Get Your Bike Out of the Shed!
Turn off your TV, get off the sofa and jump on your bike with your friends and family. It’s time for a good not-so-old-fashioned bike ride!
Thousands of cyclists are set to take to the streets of Leeds on Sunday 14 June for Sky Ride a fantastic traffic-free bike ride. Starting at The Headrow, the bike route runs right through and around the city centre, passing iconic landmarks such as the the Town Hall and Leeds University Tower. All in all it’s a healthy 6.5km route and it’s a fantastic way to see the city from a different perspective.
The event has a real festival atmosphere, with lots of free things to do both on and off the bike at The Hub, The Marketplace and the Tricks & Tunes area.
The Hub is the centre point for the whole event. Here you’ll find the Keep Pedalling area where you can catch up on the latest cycling opportunities in Leeds and beyond the city, meet your local Ride Leaders and check out the interactive map that shows all of the local rides happening on the day. You’ll also find the Bike Cafe, where you can relax with a cup of coffee and well earned slice of cake after your ride!
The Tricks & Tunes area is where you’ll find some serious high octane bike action, with Europe’s number one mountain bike and BMX demonstration team, led by multiple British and European trials champion Danny Butler. There’s also a GIANT air bag, where you can test your own freestyle skills with backflips and tailwhips (if you dare!)
The Marketplace is the place for finding loads of community organisations and clubs, as well as local bike shops, retailers and lots of spots where you can have a bite to eat or drink.
With summer finally on its way this will be a great day out for everyone!
Our Merrion Centre car park is conveniently located next to The Hub, which is where all of the action kicks off. So finding somewhere to park while you enjoy the ride will be no problem!
