Visit The Beach...In Leeds City Centre!
Still looking for something fun to do during the summer holidays in Leeds? Why not whack out your flip flops and shorts and visit the beach in Leeds city centre.
This August, Millennium Square is being transformed into a real life beach for the summer. If you're not able to get away this year, or if you've already been and got those holiday blues, why not take a trip to Leeds City Beach and feel the sand beneath in between those toes.
Bringing traditional British seaside vibes to Leeds, the City Beach will feature rides, attractions, traditional games, and food and drink. Avoid the stress of travelling all the way out to Scarborough or Bridlington this summer and build some sandcastles, enjoy some fish and chips, as well as a bit of ice cream all within the city centre.
Situated in the centre of the City Beach will be a traditional Ferris Wheel, giving riders a bird's eye view of the sand area. Surrounded by a boardwalk, as well as palm trees, it's a fantastic experience. Other rides include Bamboo Bungee trampolines, Tropical Jungle adventure funhouse, beach slide, Waikiki cars, and a Seaside Carousel. Don't forget about the water attractions including Pirate Boats, Aqua Balls as well as water cannons where you can soak all of your family and friends! The real thrill seekers can enjoy the more adrenaline fuelled rides including the Crazy Wave and the Beach Buggies dodgems.
If you're planning on visiting on a weekend, you'll end up with some extra treats too. With a full calendar of weekend entertainment including beach games organised by the Heart Angels, not forgetting a series of live Punch and Judy shows, it's a brilliant alternative to the coast.
There's also some fun for the adults too. With a whole host of places to chill out including some fantastic deck chairs to get some well-needed R&R and enjoy some sunshine, it makes for a pretty great afternoon. Not only that, some of the existing street cafes will operate as normal with themed licenced areas if you're fancying a drink.
The Leeds City Beach runs from the 9th to the 31st of August, 10.30am to 7pm. Best of all, entry is free!
