Shocking 'Drink Drive' figures released
With the Christmas season fast approaching, the government has released some shocking figures on the impact drink driving is having on road users.
Last year 9990 people were killed or injured as a result of drink driving in the UK, with 1 in every 6 road accidents involving alcohol.
According to the government's latest survey of drivers, at least 25% of people know a person that drinks and then drives and 41% say they know someone that drives when they are unsure if they are over the legal alcohol limit.
With penalties for drink driving offences including up to 14 years imprisonment and unlimited fines, drink driving is a serious subject and in Manchester and Leeds alone there were 4594 road accidents reported last year.
To encourage drivers to park up over the Christmas period, we've introduced some great parking rates at our Leeds and Manchester car parks.
- At Whitehall Road you can pay £3 for 12 hours of parking at the weekend
- At Merrion Centre you can pay £4.50 to park overnight from 5pm until 9am
- Parking at Tariff Street starts from just £3.00
