Leeds weekend and evening parking
The city of Leeds has been abuzz this week as the council's plans to charge for evening and weekend parking look certain to go ahead.
Meetings at Civic Hall yesterday concluded that free on-street parking after 6pm on weekdays and on Sundays should come to an end so that Leeds City Council can increase funds to spend on public services.
Many people are frustrated by the changes, especially business owners who fear that it might discourage shoppers from coming into the city centre.
One bar owner, Andy, says “It's hard for smaller businesses to get by at this time when people have a minimal amount of cash to spare, not to mention staff that work weekends and evenings now having to fork out to drive to their place of work. Give people a reason to come into the city centre, don't make them resent shopping!â€
At CitiPark we're committed to providing secure, great value parking facilities and introduced lower evening and weekend parking rates last year. Our car parks are monitored by CCTV 24 hours a day so you can be sure that your vehicle will be safe at minimum cost.
At our Merrion Centre car park you can park after 5pm from just £2.00. And at 7 Whitehall Road you can park from 7pm until 7am the next morning for £3.00 on weekdays, and up to 12 hours for just £3.00 all weekend.
If you live or work in the city centre then you may want to take advantage of our great season ticket rates to save even more money. We have car parks all around Leeds city centre and you can buy quickly online.
